MUNICIPALITY OF SAN MARIANO (ISABELA)


GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION: The municipality lies in the eastern part of the Province of Isabela. It is bounded on the North by the Municipality of Ilagan, on the East by the Municipality of Palanan, on the South by the Municipality of San Guillermo and on the West by the Municipality of Benito Soliven. It is approximately 404 kms from Metro Manila and 46 kms. from Ilagan, the provincial capital.

The most interesting sites for eco-tourism activities in the Northern Sierra Madre Natural Park (NSMNP) along San Mariano are summarized as follows:

Disulap River                     Crocodile sanctuary,  An Agta community is settled  within the area
Trail from Sitio Ambabuk    Forested mountains, and varied species of flora and fauna along the way.
Sitio Cabuluan                   Caves with naturally formed shining rocks and clear rapid falls towering a 100-ft height.
Lake Dunoy                       Presence of the Philippine Crocodile (Crocodylus   Mindorensis), bat caves, and rare bird species.                                                                                                    Forested mountains and the presence of an Agta community.

Sitio Bangku                     The Disusuan Cave which is famous for its many chambers and panoramic view.
Sitio Bulauan                    Bulauan Cave – known for its naturally formed lattices and shining rocks
Barangay Tappa               The Ilaguen River which is famous for its crystal clear water rapid falls, steep canyons and picturesque environment.
Sitio Sinamnama             The Amisan Falls boasting its 60 feet rapid and clear flow of water and is being developed for a micro hydro power system. Huge rocks are                                         also  naturally along the area.
Sitio Villa Ancheta           40 feet rapid water falls and presence of naturally scattered rocks
Dibuluan                         Presence of natural black rocks with heights ranging from 5 to 7 meters
